Former Congressman Patrick Kennedy joins Sobriety Hub
Our newest addition to the team, Patrick J. Kennedy, is a former U.S. Representative (D-RI) and renowned mental health advocate. Former Congressman Kennedy represented Rhode Island's 1st congressional district from 1995 to 2011.
After leaving Congress, Kennedy discussed his own experiences with addiction and has since dedicated his life to the mental health and addiction field. He founded The Kennedy Forum in 2013, a non-profit focused on transforming mental health and addiction systems by convening a unique group of stakeholders including mental health advocates, business leaders, and government agencies.
As a member of the President’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis, Kennedy played an essential role on the Commission’s 2017 report focusing his contributions on the declaration of a federal emergency and strong parity-based recommendations.
Former Congressman Kennedy also wrote about his personal life experiences in the book A Common Struggle: A Personal Journey Through the Past and Future of Mental Illness and Addiction.
Among his latest pursuits includes his partnership with Sobriety Hub. The former Congressman is optimistic about the future of Sobriety Hub and supports our mission to provide the sober living community with the best possible resources:
“As an active member of the recovery community, I know how important sober housing is to helping gain long term sobriety. I am absolutely committed to getting all payers to finally recognize this crucial element of the recovery continuum and I’m excited that Sobriety Hub is doing the important work of ensuring we do sober living in the right way.”
With the support of the addiction recovery community, including former Congressman Kennedy, Sobriety Hub hopes to achieve our vision of creating a more affordable and user-friendly operations software for sober living homes. We look forward to continuing to serve the recovery community together.
We are pleased to welcome former Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy to the Sobriety Hub team!
